(Barrhaven, ON) –  Nepean-Carleton MPP and PC Revenue Critic Lisa MacLeod says the McGuinty Liberals are ignoring Ottawa residents in crucial consultations set to take place on the province’s 2010 budget even as the city lost 4,400 jobs in the month of December.

“Ottawa is the second largest city in Ontario and our residents are as concerned as anybody about the Liberals’ high taxes, record deficits and how they’ve brought Ontario into have not status.  To ignore a key city like Ottawa on the road to economic recovery is disastrous and the Liberals should rethink their plan to deny local residents a voice in the debate”, said MacLeod.

The Liberal dominated committee on Finance and Economic Affairs will tour Ontario from January 25th until February 3rd with stops in London, Niagara Falls, Dryden, North Bay, Kingston and Toronto.

“While the Liberals might ignore the City of Ottawa, the hard reality of job losses has not.  Just this past month, over 4,400 Ottawa-Gatineau residents lost their jobs.  Ottawa residents also have strong opinions on the $25 billion deficit McGuinty has rung up and the $3.5 billion tax hike he’s bringing in.  Ottawa is tired of being taken for granted by McGuinty Liberals,” concluded MacLeod.
