About Lisa, your MPP in Nepean-Carleton PDF Print E-mail

Born to a family with a strong history in public service, Lisa, raised in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, was destined to add her name to the family lineage of public servants.

After completing university, she moved to Ottawa where she served as a respected political advisor to many senior politicians. She has shared her political knowledge and keen insights to various media outlets as a political commentator, including CFRA, CPAC, CTV, A Channel and the CBC. Today, Lisa, her husband Joe, and their 6-year-old daughter Victoria, live a busy life, typical of a suburban Nepean family. She is active at her daughter's school and enjoys helping out with her ringette team. Lisa is also a member of the Barrhaven Legion and was recognized for her support of soldiers and veterans throughout Ontario.

Elected 6 years ago, Lisa has developed a reputation for fighting relentlessly on behalf of Nepean-Carelton constituents, and was returned to office in 2011 with the highest vote total of any candidate of any party. She is the PC's Education Critic and is the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Legislative Assembly.

Most well known for taking Dalton McGuinty to task over his broken promises and implementing a new Harmonized Sales Tax (HST), Lisa has championed the toughest child protection legislation in Ontario's history, is a founding member of the South Nepean Autism Centre, and has garnered the support of the Canadian Taxpayer's Federation and the National Citizen Coalition for her "Truth in Government" legislation.

Lisa has also been a supporter of small business, establishing the Nepean-Carleton Women in Business Breakfast series and advocating for tougher legislation that would crack down on grow operations and drug labs which received widespread support from the Ontario Real Estate Association.

Determined to make life easier for families in her community, Lisa knows that she can play an important role in ensuring Nepean-Carleton families get the relief they deserve.
