PETITION To the Legislative Assembly of Ontario Whereas November 11th of each year commemorates the sacrifices of Canada's veterans, soldiers and war dead in Canada in their defence of our nation and in the name of freedom and democracy by recognizing Remembrance Day; and Whereas more than one third of Canadian soldiers who gave their lives in Afghanistan called Ontario home; and Whereas Ontario is one of the few Canadian provinces and territories not to recognize Remembrance Day as a statutory holiday; and Whereas an estimated 275,000 people have joined social media campaigns to make Remembrance Day a statutory holiday and a 2006 Dominion Institute Study confirmed the same with 87% support; We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
