NEWS:

Instead of calling an expensive review of a 60 year act that formed the basis of the secret law fiasco during the G20 summit in Toronto, Dalton McGuinty needs to call the Chief Justice and tell him why he and his Cabinet decided to keep the G20 law secret.

It wasn't until after the G20 summit was over, that saw people searched and in some cases arrested, did Dalton McGuinty admit there was no 5 metre rule.  Instead of answering for his actions he has embarked on an expensive review of a 60 year act.  The PC Caucus is calling on Dalton McGuinty to scrap the review and tell the Chief Justice:

  • Which of his Cabinet Ministers proposed keeping this G20 law secret?
  • Why did he agree and keep it secret?
  • Why is the responsible Minister still in Cabinet?
  • Why did the Liberal government lie to the Ontario public?

Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak has called for heads to roll.

QUOTES:

"Dalton McGuinty needs to call the Chief Justice and answer four very simple questions.  Then he can scrap the review and save taxpayers a lot of money and he would be accountable for his actions."

-- Lisa MacLeod, MPP Nepean-Carleton, Ontario PC Revenue and Government Accountability Critic

"The only thing that's been clear in this whole G20 secret law fiasco is that at every step of the way, Dalton McGuinty has tried to hide and sneak this law past Ontario families."

-- Lisa MacLeod, MPP Nepean-Carleton, Ontario PC Revenue and Government Accountability Critic
