NEWS: Just as the Ontario PC Caucus warned, families and seniors are paying more because of Dalton McGuinty's HST. Today, the Canadian Centre for Policy Studies estimated that the cost of the tax increase is over $1,000 per Ontario household. On Canada Day, the HST began driving up the price on hundreds of everyday goods and services by 8%. The report also confirms that the tax increase from the HST is higher than suggested by the Liberal Government's own study, Ontario's Tax Plan for Jobs Growth. The report verifies what the Ontario PC Caucus has stated all along, that the HST is a tax grab and not revenue-neutral. QUOTES: "The Canadian Centre for Policy Studies confirms the Ontario PC Caucus belief that the HST is nothing but a greedy tax grab on the backs of families and seniors." -- Lisa MacLeod, MPP, Ontario PC Revenue and Government Accountability Critic "Ontario families and seniors can no longer afford Dalton McGuinty. Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak has been clear, that an Ontario PC Government will cut taxes and bring much needed relief to those who've reached the tipping point." -- Lisa MacLeod, MPP, Ontario PC Revenue and Government Accountability Critic
