(Queen's Park) – The scandal-plagued eHealth Ontario Agency is set to be summoned before an all party MPP review committee despite resistance says MPP Lisa MacLeod. In a special meeting of the sub committee of Government Agencies this morning, Progressive Conservative MPP Lisa MacLeod - who requested the meeting - fought for a fall review of the troubled eHealth Agency with the support of the NDP. “We’ve cleared the first hurdle, the onus is now on the McGuinty Liberals to do the right thing and use their majority to give us the green light when the legislature resumes,” said MacLeod. The Opposition parties have recommended that eHealth appear before an all party MPP review committee this fall. It has been revealed that precious taxpayer dollars intended to improve healthcare were instead spent on limousines, big executive bonuses and a $25,000 speech. It has been suggested that Dalton McGuinty had a hand in hiring former eHealth CEO Sarah Kramer. Scandal-plagued eHealth is now on its third CEO in three months. “The public wants to know that MPPs are taking this scandal seriously, and they want to make sure the Government is doing everything in its power to get to the bottom of all that is wrong with eHealth”, said MacLeod, who concluded, “I hope the Liberals recognize that our job is to protect the taxpayers of Ontario, not their hides.” -30-
