(Nepean) – Nepean-Carleton Conservative MPP Lisa MacLeod made the local rounds of community events this past weekend, and she also spent time meeting with participants in the upcoming ‘A Weekend to End Breast Cancer.’ “A Weekend to End Breast Cancer is one of the best grassroots initiatives to be involved with. Whether it was a bake sale in Barrhaven or a barbeque in Stittsville, local women want to make cancer history with their hard work and contributions and I am happy to support them,” said MacLeod, who is a former Communications Chair and Board Member with the Canadian Cancer Society - Ottawa Unit. "We've had a lot of fun raising money and awareness over the last few months. The hard part will be the 60-k walk! It's been really nice to see all kinds of people; from strangers at the grocery store to MPP Lisa MacLeod helping us reach our goal," said Karen Marcotte, who was collecting donations in Stittsville on Saturday with co-walker Debs McGeachy. The Weekend to End Breast Cancer 60 KM walk goes July 21-23 here in the capital. -30- Ted Yeomans Special Assistant to Lisa MacLeod, MPP Nepean-Carleton 613-297-2051 |
