Despite election talk, McGuinty government fails municipal funding fix (Ottawa, ON) - Progressive Conservative Party MPP Lisa MacLeod today called the McGuinty Liberals' term in office a colossal disappointment for Ottawa and other municipalities with very little accomplished. "Dalton McGuinty used to have a lot to say about municipalities," said MacLeod. "Since he came to power, he's done very little. The McGuinty government propaganda machine has been focused on churning out countless one-off, one-time public relations announcements, instead of delivering real results for municipalities." MacLeod made the comments today just before Dalton McGuinty spoke to delegates in Ottawa at the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference. “The Ontario PC Party knows that Municipalities are facing serious challenges. That is why John Tory has committed to review the issue of which levels of government deliver and pay for specific services,” said MacLeod. She added: "We're now just over a year away from an election. Anything Dalton McGuinty promises now has as much credibility as the 231 promises he made in the last election." -30- Ted Yeomans E.A. to Lisa MacLeod, MPP Nepean-Carleton 613-823-2116 |
