Nepean-Carleton MPP points to premier’s past remarks. QUEEN’S PARK – Nepean-Carleton MPP Lisa MacLeod spoke out today against Dalton McGuinty’s bitter attacks on former MPP’s now serving as ministers in Canada’s New Government. "As a member of this legislature I am proud to work with my former colleagues in the federal government in Ottawa, and with the municipality that I represent," said MacLeod. "I think working with the other levels of government on behalf of the people, for the people is the right thing to do. This government clearly disagrees." MacLeod pointed out that McGuinty’s antagonistic remarks were a departure from his comments after the most recent federal election when he said, "I've been asked by others, 'Well, hang on a second, what about the track record they had in another government?' Well, that was another government at another time in history." "The Premier will say one thing to Ontario’s face but another behind its back," said MacLeod. "If he truly wanted to stand up for Ontario, he would be working with Ministers Baird, Flaherty and Clement like the people expect him to!" "But, you know what they say, when you get in trouble at home," MacLeod continued. "You better pick a fight with the feds. I hardly call that standing up for Ontario. It sounds more like falling poll numbers!" - 30 - For more information, Stephen Gilman, Executive Assistant Phone: 613-823-2116 Cell: 613-297-2051 |
