| MPP MACLEOD ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY GROUPS TO APPLY FOR COMMUNITIES IN ACTION FUND GRANTS |

NEPEAN-CARLETON, January 15, 2007 – MPP Lisa MacLeod is inviting community-based organizations whose goal is to increase physical activity and sport participation rates to apply for grants funded by the Communities in Action Fund. “The Communities in Action Fund is a feature of the Province of Ontatio’s strategy for sport and physical activity, and I am encouraging local community groups who fit the criteria to apply,” said MPP MacLeod. According to the Ministry of Health Promotion, funds will be provided to new, non-capital initiatives that will contribute to increasing Ontario’s physical activity and sports participation rates. Implementation, planning, and development-type projects will be eligible for funding. Communities that already have sport and physical activity plans in place are encouraged to strengthen those plans and accelerate their implementation .
